One of my projects was to create an identity for the youth center of The Love of God International Ministry “FRØNTLINE“. Being asked to create a poster with billions of elements I went totally different direction risking that no one might like my idea.
Being at the FRONTLINE and after spending a lot of time with them I saw the image in my head that fits FRONTLINE‘s style and character. This youth center is deeply involved in serving community, helping poor, lonely, depressed people of all ages. The young people there are truly on “frontlines” protecting the city and its people spiritually.
What I had to create:
5. Myspace profile
Many things that this youth center does in a community made the word “FRONTLINE” sound nothing but perfect. Youth there sees themselves as warriors of a new millennium, as those who resist evil of this world everyday; drugs, alcohol, smoking, depression, adultery, abortions, steeling, etc.
I created a logo using a bold font called Ash from dafont.com. After drawing a simple underline the logo seemed just perfect and adding any kind of detail took away from its effectiveness.
3. Photo shoot
I took my friend as a model for the photo shoot (The guy holding the sword) and lighted the guy and place with construction lights that were lying around (that was fun.)
The poster was to be 11×17 in. I found a picture of a downtown (it is actually Chicago, but the name of city wasn’t important) Then I found several cloud brushes with which I drew the clouds. Cut the man out and edited some colors. Then thew the logo and the text in and the poster was done.
Some inspiration for the poster was by the promotional posters for “Rambo” and “Transformers”
5. Banner – banner for the web was easy. Just simply crunching the poster and placing some elements differently.
6. Myspace profile – how I made myspace profile read in a previous post “Make Your Myspace Layout Really Yours”
So, the presentation:
Finally, I presented this project and explained that this poster for FRONTLINE’s identity perfectly expresses the idea of the name. It perfectly illustrates what’s in every heart of young guys in this youth center, which is to go into the world and be the change, be the help, be the aid. To be the protection of people against all the negative things such as depression, loneliness, etc that millions are facing today. To be the warriors of peace, those who bring joy and show the way to eternal happiness. But with these goals as they say themselves “You face a lot of resistance, and its not easy. This is a war!”
Everyone loved this identity because everyone was able to relate to it personally. And this was one of the biggest things that I wanted to capture.
